Our History

A Tradition of Excellence Since 1954

The story of the Country Club of Culpeper began in early 1954, when a group of local residents gathered socially and recognized a need for a community club where residents could entertain visiting guests and bring people together beyond the limitations of their homes.

On February 21, 1954, a meeting was held at the Lord Culpeper Hotel. At that gathering, E. Jackson Eggborn agreed to serve as temporary chairman. Just two days later, he organized a meeting of prospective stockholders, and Judge Burnett Miller was asked to prepare the club’s Constitution and By-Laws.

With the formation of a Board of Directors, the vision began to take shape. On March 10, 1954, the Tolson family deeded a 58-acre tract of land to Culpeper Country Club, Inc., marking the founding of the organization that would become the Country Club of Culpeper.

What began as a shared community vision has grown into a club centered on recreation, hospitality, fellowship, and tradition. Since 1954, the Country Club of Culpeper has continued to serve as a place where members come together to enjoy the game of golf, celebrate special occasions, build lasting friendships, and create memories across generations.

Rooted in tradition. Connected by community. Looking forward to the future.
